Non-Turkey Day |
| For the very first time in my young life I did not have Thanksgiving dinner with the fam. Instead, I insisted my folks go out to eat and BJH and I treated 11 of our closest, homeless friends to a Southern-fried Turkey-less T-day for which all could be thankful. |

The dessert bar was fairly traditional: Apple cake, pumpkin pie and pecan pie. Sugar shocking! |

| BJH smells a spicy sopressetta from Italian Farms. Spicy! |

My beautiful white truffle cheese sauce sits awaiting al dente shells. I swear to the lord above that is a homemade bechamel and a lb of shredded cheddar-NOT VELVETA. Even though it looks a little too yellow to be believed. |

My beautiful cheese roll dough finishes its first rise. Always so sad to deflate such a lovely, puffy, yeasty thing. |

A plate. OK, my plate. Clockwise from top left: BJH's perfect fried chicken, a cheese roll, a slab of tomato pie, truffle M&C, Ma Summerour's collards and some sweet potato casserole. I was thankful for the bounty. |

It's not a holiday party if nothing explodes while cooking. Luckily we rescued the molten sweet-potastrophe before losing all of our marshmallows to the bottom of the oven. |
